Spotlight Of Attention On Bae Yong Joon's Appearance In Japanese Version Of "Hotelier"

As if to reflect the popularity of Korean top star Bae Yong Joon, all the various Japanese sports papers, such as the Daily Sports, Sports Nippon, Sports Hochi, and Nikkan Sports, treated the news about Bae Yong Joon's special pro bono appearance in the Japanese version of the drama "Hotelier" with great interest.

On location for the Japanese "Hotelier" in the Lotte Hotel in Seogong-dong, Seoul, Japanese idol Ueto Aya reunited with Bae Yong Joon. They first met three years ago in 2004 for the Japanese commercial for "Oronamin," a health beverage.

Bae Yong Joon and Ueto seemed to look peaceful as they taught each other proper pronunciations for Korean and Japanese. Especially, Bae Yong Joon was seen to be checking the monitor even in the scenes where he does not appear, and seemed serious about the filming as he asked the Japanese staff many times about his pronunciation.

As soon as the filming was over in the late hours of the night, Bae Yong Joon said "Shall we shoot one more scene?" as a joke, shook hands with all the staff members, and told them good job. When Bae Yong Joon was leaving the hotel after the filming ended, there were about 300 Japanese fans shouting encouragement to him in the lobby. In the midst of them, there was even a fan who shed tears after being so moved.

Ueto said, " I was going to give wooden clogs to him, but considering Bae Yong Joon's image, I gave him an original wine bottle opener and a letter as a gift. Meeting Bae Yong Joon again after three years makes me remember the first time I saw him and how I felt like I was drawn into his eyes."

For Bae Yong Joon who gifted Ueto with a necklace, he said that "she became more mature, and I felt that she also matured as an individual. She gave an unchangingly brilliant and superb performance."

He went on to say that he was "fatigued from the filming of the drama, but after seeing Ueto's bright figure, he felt his fatigue disappear." When asked about his weight loses for the filming of the drama "The Legend," he smiled and said, "there were people who said that I look cooler when I'm thin, but there were others who asked if I was okay and worried about me."

"It feels like an honor for a Korean drama to become a remake in Japanese, since this is the first time that it happened. I think that partaking in this drama will be a precious memory to me," revealed Bae Yong Joon. In the Japanese version, he will have the same role as in the original drama, as the character Shin Dong Hyuk, and will show the main character, Ueto, the way of becoming a true hotelier.

He will appear from the first episode, and is planned to appear in several episodes afterwards, so he is expected to receive much attention and interest from the fans.

The Japanese version of "Hotelier" that will feature Ueto Aya is planned to air on the 19th through Asahi TV every Thursday. Bae Yong Joon will appear before the viewers again in the drama "The Legend," five years since the 2002 "Winter Sonata."
