Rain in "TIME" Magazine for 3rd Consecutive Year

Actor and singer Rain was asked for an interview with the weekly U.S. journal "TIME," according to J. Tune Entertainment.

Every year, "TIME" magazine presents a select list of "100 of the World's Most Influential People" and currently, Rain has surpassed Britney Spears on the online voting site, "2008 Time 100." The request for an interview comes from the "TIME" video web coverage segment, "10 Questions."

This is the third consecutive year that Rain has been linked to "TIME." The Hallyu star was chosen for the "TIME 100" list in 2006 and walked the red carpet with powerful figures such as U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and movie mogul Jerry Bruckheimer.

In 2007, he was ranked number one on the online voting system set up for the "TIME 100" and introduced to "TIME" readers as "Asia's Prince of Pop." Once again he is ranked first on the online poll this year along with an interview that can be viewed by a global audience.

The "TIME" editor-in-chief will select ten questions from the countless number sent in to the website (http://www.time.com/10questions) by netizens all over the world.

Park Yong-ha Voted Japan’s Favorite Korean Actor


Actor Park Yong-ha of “Winter Sonata” has been voted the most popular Korean actor in Japan. He won 2,383 of 2,637 votes in a poll conducted by M.net Japan’s “m-time” to finish in the top spot. Other Korean stars Song Seung-heon and Kwon Sang-woo came in second and third. Song garnered 189 votes and Kwon 65. The hottest Korean star in Japan, Bae Yong-joon, was not on the ballot.

The poll was conducted not online, but offline through postcards. Park thanked his fans for remembering and supporting him even when he’s not in Japan. He also promised to do his best in TV drama On Air” in which he stars with Kim Ha-neul and Song Yun-ah so as not to disappoint his fans.

Park’s future plan in Japan includes an appearance as special guest in the Love Song 2008 Premium Concert scheduled for June 7th in Saitama Super Arena. The concert is to celebrate the release of Park’s new compilation album, “Love Song 2008.”

Actress Kim Tae-hee has become the talk of the town with a commercial in which she appears with no make-up. The commercial for Olympus Korea emphasizes Kim's natural side. Sporting a mane of untidy hair as if she just woke up,
she curls her lips, plays with a teddy bear, frowns, and sucks a lollipop.


The commercial has received a strong response because it shows another side of the actress, who has used the fact that she is intelligent and refined as a graduate of the prestigious Seoul National University to appeal to the public.

Rain to Begin International PR Tour for 'Speed Racer'

Actor and singer Rain will begin a world tour for the promotion of the simultaneous international release of Hollywood's "Speed Racer" on May 8th.

According to Warner Brothers Korea, Rain starts his promotional tour in Korea on the 20th, then Hong Kong on the 23rd and onto Los Angeles, California, where he will join producer Joel Silver, actors Emile Hirsch and Matthew Fox for the premiere. Rain is also scheduled for a Japan appearance in June.

"Hollywood actors are promoting the movie on various talk shows [in the United States] but in Asia, no one is as popular as Rain so we are expecting a great response from his promotions of the film here," announced a representative of Warner Brothers.

At 300 million dollars (USD) for its production and 80 million in marketing costs, "Speed Racer" is a hefty blockbuster about the best racers around the world battling in cars equipped with cutting-edge technology.

Last Tuesday, Variety Magazine printed that "Speed Racer" was chosen as the closing film for the 7th Tribeca Film Festival in New York City (4/23-5/4).

Lee Jun-ki Chosen as New Model for Pepsi

Popular Korean actor Lee Jun-ki has been chosen as the new model for Pepsi Cola in China along with other young Asian celebrities including Jolin and Louis Koo of Hong Kong.

Lee's management agency said Pepsi chose the Korean actor as its new model for Chinese-speaking countries for his popularity in the region, which was clearly demonstrated during his recent promotional tour in Hong Kong and China. Singer Rain was a former Pepsi model for Chinese-speaking regions.

On April 1, Lee attended a Pepsi Family press event held in Hong Kong. The management agency said Lee signed a one-year contract with Pepsi and that the earnings from the contract is equivalent to that of top celebrities.

The commercial was filmed in February. Although the shooting took place behind closed doors, numerous fans flocked to the site to get a glimpse of Lee.

Lee also signed a shampoo commercial contract with China and is currently shooting a brand new SBS drama that will start airing in mid-May.

Super Junior Hangeng Most Stylish Star in China


Hangeng, a member of the popular idol group Super Junior, has been chosen as the most stylish star in China.

According to Super Junior's management agency, SM Entertainment, Hangeng received the Most Stylish Male Artist Award at the '2007 Entertainment Awards' held in Beijing on March 30. He also announced the recipient of the Best New Artist Award.

Upon receiving the award, Hangeng said he would like to share the honor with his staff members and fans. He also promised to keep up his style for his fans.

During the ceremony, female Chinese artist
Zhang Liyin, a member of SM Entertainment who debuted in China in late Feruary, performed her dance number 'One More Try.' The upbeat number cheers on the 2008 Beijing Olympics and has been getting a favorable response.

The annual ceremony hands out awards to artists and production companies in seven different categories: film, drama, music, fashion, theater, charity and special service. Top Chinese celebrities, including actress Zhao Wei and singer Alan Tam, attended the event.
